How It All Started

Legacy Career Institute (LCI) is a technical and career-focused educational institution established by Legacy Impact. Legacy Impact is a unique non-profit co-founded by a group of remarkable elementary students in Prosper, Texas, led by Kimberli Brackett.

It all began with young students who were passionate about making a difference in the lives of other young people in Ghana. Over time, God has grown this vision into a movement that now includes both students and adults united to live out the tangible love of Jesus. Kimberli, who has carried a deep passion for Ghana for many years, was especially burdened by the high unemployment rate among the country’s youth. Guided by a clear sense of purpose, our Legacy Impact team established Legacy Career Institute with one vision: to empower and equip students with the technical, technological, and leadership skills they need to become world-changing, Godly leaders for a brighter future.

Through the generosity of Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem, Chief of Tepa, Legacy Impact received a 10-acre land donation in the Ashanti Region of Ghana for the construction of LCI. By God’s faithfulness and provision, many generous donors have partnered with us in making this vision and dream a reality.  With the support of individuals, families, and organizations in the United States and Ghana, construction began in 2021 and has been steadily progressing since.

LCI has also partnered with professionals, organizations, and businesses who have contributed their skills, knowledge, and expertise to the project. Our current major partner is Afrilink Network Consult, an I.T. organization working with LCI to build our I.T. curriculum and provide ongoing technical support in several areas of the school.

Why Technical and Skills Training?

In today’s rapidly evolving world, technological advancements are transforming industries, economies, and societies. The demand for skilled workers with technical expertise continues to rise, making it crucial to prepare the youth for success in this changing landscape.

Technical education provides students with hands-on training, practical skills, and industry-relevant knowledge. It bridges the gap between theory and real-world application, enabling individuals to contribute meaningfully to the workforce.

The dream and vision of Legacy Career Institute is to create a practical skill acquisition hub with a unique focus on experiential learning. Unlike many traditional technical schools in Ghana, LCI emphasizes a “learn by doing” approach.

Students will train with industry-standard software, machines, tools, and equipment, gaining real-world experience that equips them to create industry as an entrepreneur and/or step into the workforce as competent professionals upon graduation. Our mission is clear: to raise a new generation of highly skilled, innovative, and industry-ready professionals and leaders who will drive Ghana’s technological and skills-based industries forward through various career endeavors.
